Narcolepsy is a medical rare condition in which a person has a tendency to fall asleep a few times each day for several minutes or hours. It's also a condition characterized by an extreme tendency to fall asleep whenever in relaxing surroundings.
The symptoms appear in childhood or adolescence, but many people have symptoms of narcolepsy for years before getting a proper diagnosis.

SYMPTOMS
This state of health may occur at times likely to induce sleep, just in a warm quiet room after a nice sweet meal. But also on other occasions, such as during a conversation. The person is easily woken and feels refreshed and the attacks of sleep may occur severally during the day. It mat also occur when a person is carrying out a monotonous activity, just like picking up a book to read for some hours, during such period you would realize that one gets to fall asleep without intending to. Eventually, after a period if times that may be years later,the condition becomes associated with attacks of cataplexy (a condition in which there are transient bouts of muscles weakening or momentary paralysis )

A person with narcolepsy should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
TREATMENT
Drugs of the amphetamine type (dexamphetamine) may be prescribed to be taken on special occasions.
For cataplexy, the drugs clomipramine or imipramine are usually prescribed..
A person with narcolepsy should avoid risky activities like driving or hazardous sport like rugby
